Anna Paola Pizzocaro was born in Milan, she pursued and achieved an MFA in Visual Arts and Aesthetics from Sorbonne University in Paris with Honors (Paris 1) in 2003.
After Graduation in Paris she worked for Mikros Image and Duran Duboi in the Post Production of cinema movies and on various advertising campaigns.
Her interest in photography constantly and significantly increased to the extent of driving her towards a deeper desire to study and discover the countless possibilities this mighty artistic medium provides.
The year 2009 marked a significant milestone as she graduated from the International Center Of Photography (ICP) in New York, completing the One Year Certificate GS Program. Post-graduation, her journey took an exciting turn as she got the opportunity to work for the renowned photographer, David LaChapelle from 2009 to 2012. For three years, she was engaged in diverse roles, from web design and archiving to post-production and on-set skills, at his New York studio. Following a three-year tenure beginning in an assistant role, she successfully showcased her competencies, culminating in her promotion to the Digital Lead position within the studio.
Her current and past exhibition schedule with a positive feedback both from the critics and the audience counts in - just to name a few - Miami, Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC, San Diego, London, Milan, Paris, Lucca, Padua , Genoa, the Art Museum of Chianciano (Florence), the Natural History Museum in Milan, at Quirinal Palace in Rome in collaboration with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage.
Her first solo museum exhibition was held at the Lu.C.C.A ( Center of Contemporary Art in Lucca ) in Tuscany back in 2012, under the artistic direction of Maurizio Vanni, where was exhibited the series "Unanswered Prayers", featuring a full 30 large-format works.
During her career, she received various awards in New York, in London, in Milan, Linz in Austria and in Monte Carlo. In Linz, back in 2000, she was conferred a very significant recognition : the Honorary Mention for the International Prix Ars Electronica in Computer Animation, in New York she received the Hobart Nichols SCNY Award, on October 4th 2017.
in 2011 her first Art Book was published in Italy by Skira, a publishing firm founded by Albert Skira in Switzerland in 1928 and now based in Italy. The firm is known particularly for its art books.
In 2012 and 2013 two more of her Artist Books were published by Umberto Allemandi & Co. Publishing. The Italian publishing house, based in Turin, spawned seven international publications that now collaborate in the largest information network operating in the art world, which - from Turin - extends to London, New York, Paris and Shanghai.
In 2014 her series "Unanswered Prayers" has been object of a solo show at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC, USA.
In 2016 she had the honor to have a solo show at Villa Firenze in Washington DC, the Residence of the Italian Ambassador in the US, opening the Artists in Residence Program at Villa Firenze promoted by Ambassador Armando Varricchio and Mrs. Micaela Varricchio.
in 2021 on the occasion of the celebrations of 160 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and the United States, the Embassy of Italy published the catalog “Italian Artists at Villa Firenze 2016-2021”, celebrating 5 years of this exciting project. Upon their arrival in Washington DC, Ambassador Armando Varricchio and Mrs. Micaela Varricchio, inaugurated the series “Artists in Residence at Villa Firenze” to provide Italian artists with an exceptional space to explore the new frontiers of contemporary artistic research through the creation of site-specific exhibitions and installations.
Anna Paola Pizzocaro’s Art Books are available for public Consultation at the Library of The National Museum Of Women in the Arts in Washington Dc, and at the New York Public Library (NYC).
Her photographic artworks are included in famous museums collections such as the Phillips Collection in Washington DC.
In 2017 she became a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Art Club in New York City (Greenwhich Village, New York).
2020 she received the “Presidents’ Award” of the same Club. In 2023 and in 2024 she received the “Philip Isenberg Memorial Award” at Salmagundi Art Club in New York City (Greenwhich Village, New York).
Her creative process focuses on capturing the fragile state of our earth using a mix of different photographic techniques.

-May 10th, 2014 at the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C. she was invited to participate to an artist talk and Conference mediated by Renato Miracco from the Italian Embassy and Verna Curtis from the Library of Congress, during the artist solo show “Unanswered Prayers” for the European Union Embassies' Open House Day.
